Can you explain how to put an avatar in a member's profile??

LOL Well, how did you do yours?

Ok, I will get serious because i know someone else will ask.

Click on Profile.
Click on Avatar.
Assuming the pic you want to use as an avatar is on your machine, click browse. (on right)
Locate the pic you want to use.
Click open.
Click submit.
Click Your Profile.
Click Profile Settings.
Click Reading.
On right, click Yes next to "Always display Avatar".
Click submit.

I got Jim to do mine since I am using a Mac and am not up to speed on it yet.


But I figured once you get this BB up and running, other folks are gonna have the same questions, so...

I can't believe they did it. Those freakin' nerds blew up the BuyMore.

I know Shelly made a bunch as well. Maybe one of you could track down that link in the Yahoo Group and post it here. If you want, I will make it a sticky and we could just add to it as we find new places to go for avatars.

See, I didn't just use Mr. LCH's pictuer! I use both my favorite Kdrama actor/actress picture! Don't they look nice in STIL???

The pic dimentions are really nice, but the file size is killing me...

It's not a good idea to allow to large an avatar size, as it would push the message body too far to the left, resulting in more complaints.

Jim my dear, you can do whatever you like with this issue. I leave the decision in your hands.

jamie increased the image file size max, not the max width.

But you raise an important point: if you look at the statistics, most people are viewing the board on 1024×768 monitors. (That's true at the California board, too.) So, features that use up the width of the page are at a premium.

Could someone help me with getting an avatar to appear under my name and info?

My son, who knows alot about computers is stumped as well...it seems like there is some sort of stumbling block that we're coming to and we can't get it to work.

If you want one of your own, first, you need a picture on your computer. It can be a photo, an image you downloaded, etc. It should be sized to fit the allotted space. For most digital photos, resize it to about 10% to 20% of its original size. For other images, you may have to play around with the sizing until you get what you want.

Basically, click on Profile at the top, beneath the Korean Dramas Group title. The follow the instructions from there. If you're still having problems, let us know. We can always do it for you as a last resort.

Hi.

Having trouble. I've uploaded my avatar (JPEG file) from my machine according to the manner prescribed above, but people say they can't see it. I can see it fine. What am I doing wrong?

At first I thought it was my PC at work---but now I'm home and still don't see your avatar---on my Mac...

if you can see it my guess is its cached in your computer (basically it remembers it being there so it shows it). i think we had similar issues with the logos when theresa and jamie implemented the rotating logos (size wise).

but other than that i dont know unless the file name isn't being read correctly (like has a space or something)

Try uploading it to a image hosting site like Photobucket- if it shows up fine there then just paste the url from there into your profile where you set an avatar. If it doesn't even load to Photobucket then that will tell us something is up with the file itself I would think.
