I don't think it could possibly be hotter than it is today, but it will be worse in Manhattan. I will think cool thoughts for them!

Tonight was really a LOT of fun!

While everyone else was sitting at one table, I was at a table which a bunch of big wigs. They were a lot of fun and really nice guys - particularly Mr. Moon (Korean Ambassador) and Mr. Oh (VP Korean Air). Mr. Oh loves K Dramas, particularly Lovers in Paris. He also loved the movie Musa. We spent a lot of time talking about them. Mr. Oh was so much fun I told him he had to join the group.

I think every reporter in the place stopped by to talk and I had my pic taken so many times I was going blind.

The B-Boy performance was great!

I am sure more people will come along and give lots more details. I am really tired tonight.

Kathy, Kathy, Kathy - don't get upset!

You are my BYJ buddy, which encompasses Winter Sonata, Hotelier, Papa, and whatever else our guy is in.

Lucas is my Winter Sonata buddy...how could he not be after the moments we shared??!! LOL!

But BYJ is so much bigger than WS, don' t you agree? We'll always have BYJ together...tee hee!

Jason -

The b-boys were amazing. I took some video with my camera. If I can figure out what to do with it, I could post it here. I guess I need to find a hosting site...I suppose some of those photo sites do video hosting too...I'll have to look at the ones I belong to and see...

I'll post photos later. I am too tired now to deal with technology of any sort!

By the way, tonight in NYC was awesome! The hotel was beautiful, the food superb and our Queen T looked fabulous accepting the award. Hooray for Theresa! She deserves so much credit for all she does to promote this board - it's great her efforts were recognized.

She never stops promoting koreandramas.net - even on the train on the way home! If we end up with three new members from Atlanta - well, we owe it all to Theresa...LOL! Or perhaps they are even now in a bar in New Brunswick, thanking their lucky stars they escaped the clutches of the crazed korean drama fans they found themselves in company with, trapped on a train with for over an hour...

Just goes to show, you can dress us up, but you can't take us anywhere! Laugh Out Loud

OMG those guys who work for Oracle were hysterical. They either went to that bar in New Brunswick and thanked their lucky stars they wouldn't see us again or they went to that bar and decided to join our group. They really made the trip back from NY fly!

Wow, Jason!! I just got about thirty minutes ago from the event and you've already found an article on it. I have no clue what it says -- but that is truely amazing.

The B Boys where GREAT. They were truely amazing!!! I would say they were the hightlight of the evening -- It was nice because our table was right up front next to the stage. Those guys are seriously talented and they have SO much control. It was also fun to watch them becuase they looked like they were enjoying themselves.

The other highlight was seeing Theresa get the Korean Wave award. (It's a pretty statue made by a Korean artist who is based in Manhatan -- but I'll let Theresa explain it in more detail.) And she got to smooze it up with the big wigs, too. Wink Wink It was a very nice evening.

There were lots of reporters and photographers. I think some people got interviewed by them during the "cocktail hour". A tall photographer with a black beret and an earring took lots of pictures of us. I'm not sure what organization he was affiliated with.

The ride home was pretty fun too. Very Happy Theresa might have recruited a new member from Atlanta whose probably never seen a Korean drama in his life.

Just wanted to say I had a great time. I sent a Thank You to Sung from the Korean Tourism Organization. Praise you!

They did a wonderful job. I have been to a lot of tourism functions in my 17 years as a travel agent and that was the best.

It was so great to finally meet some of our members from the New York Area and of course Hammycatt.

Maybe Sung will do a trade show in Philly and everyone can go. They are very imformal most of the time.

Ah, it sounds like so much fun! I envy you! Bouncing Grin

This really is quite an honor - especially for Theresa, who has taken a small Yahoo mailing group, and almost singlehandedly, turned it into an organization which has literally gained international recognition for its achievements. I don't think she could have wished for a nicer birthday present! b6z2

We had a great time, but I do have a fuzzy tongue this morning... Rolling Eyes Half of us managed to meet up on the train ride in... The ladies had their evening clothes in tow, planning to dress at the Hyatt, but as we entered the tunnel under the Hudson they couldn't resist and started putting on their jewels...a new fashion statement was started...diamonds and denim... watch for the new look in People magazine... Got to New York and picked up the rest of our group in Pen Station... fought the rush hour mobs for two cabs (No trouble with the NYC cab)...NYC was steamy... got to the Haytt with just enough time to spare. Everyone rushed to the ladies lounge to freshen up and put on the finishing touches. We looked very nice and held our own with the other guests. No embarrassing moments. They had a reception table with our name tags. In we went to the cocktail hour. ..many people from various professions, Korean radio, film production, travel, bride and travel magazines, meeting planners... I tried to meet as many people possible... it was easy to read their name cards and start a conversation, pass out our cards and explain who the heck we were... Theresa was pursued by gals with microphones and guys with cameras, all wanting to know how and why this site exists... she reigned as the Queen we know and love with regal dignity. It wasn't' until the train ride home she became... never mind. What happens on NY transit stays on NY transit. Back to the Wyatt... drinks and hors d'oeuvres were plentiful and excellent... we were all starved at that point so the chicken on a stick, beef wrapped scallion, dried shrimp, raw salmon something on a small silver spoon (that one stumped me as to what to do with the spoon, at this point I had a handful of empty sticks and fish tails in my hand, found an empty tray everyone was dumping their garbage on.) It reached point where the room was really packed with people and it was hard to smooze. The dinner gong was sounded... hooray... into the next room. Lovely lady in beautiful traditional "outside" dress greeted us at the door (she changed clothes later into an equally beautiful hanbok outfit). We were at table #1, first table in, the queen was seated with important folks. We managed to get by without her. Not hard during dinner... for the foodies... Neobiani - signature dish, Korean barbeque. Pictures to follow I'm sure. The other award recipient was a Korean chief... more later

I am so happy that you all had such a wonderful time! You all look gorgeous in the picture...especially the Queen who deserves every possible accolade for turning a few fans into a major contender! The award itself is so beautiful...I've never seen anything like it!

Good work everyone!!!

Yes, a great time indeed. But no one mentioned the best part. Lol, the highlight of the evening was a 30 second video featuring Rain inviting people to come visit his beautiful Korea. Needless to say, there wasn't a lack of "oohs & ahhs" coming from our table. CW11 new's Julie Chang, who was the MC for the night, joked that she had been standing up there all that time entertaining us with no reaction from the crowd until Rain's face shows up on screen. lol Shante that was the best part of the evening I think. Mr. Kim (GM of Asiana Airlines) asked me if our group knew Rain. I laughed and told him that when Rain was getting sued our group had Rain avatars for 2 weeks to show our support. Mr. Moon (Korean Ambassador) thought that was fantastic and thanked us for our support of Rain.

lol Shante that was the best part of the evening I think.

Yes, it was the best part for me, out of everything. It was the first thing I thought of when my aunt asked me how the evening went. Laugh Out Loud

Are you sure it wasn't her? I'm not convinced. Wink

Theresa's sculpture is really nice... much more interesting than your average award trophy.

The other reciepient (A NYC based Korean chef.. wearing a cool chef hat that was shaped like a mandoo dumpling.. Very Happy) got a similar tree, with different colored leaves.

The artist that created the sculptures said that the little blue "leaves" on the ends of the branches of Theresa's sculpture are actually water droplets.. representing the Korean Wave. b4z3 b4z3 Pretty cool ... huh?

Good point, Debbie.

We should definitely find out what restaurant he's at. That's got to be some seriously good food. Wink He did not do the food for the awards dinner, though. (I know becuase I asked the servers if he did the food when I was pestering them about the ingridients of one of our dishes.)

I just watched the second clip that Jason linked. You can see Theresa looking lovely and regal as she recieves her award.. and Mr. chef man with his cool dimpling hat. Check it out...

Oh, and Carol ... I caught you in there for a split second toward the end. Very Happy

Yeah, but I think they said he supervised it all and they were his recipes. I remember the waiters who arguing about the ingredients behind us said that, as it wasn't something nromally prepared in the hotel's kitchens. Bouncing Grin It was hilarious all the same trying to figure out what was in that mushroom/bean paste thing.

But yes, a trip to the chef's restaurant would be great.

Do you all have a program or something (in English) that says who he is? And why did he get the award? We could make him our honorary chef Bouncing Grin

I have a program and menu that has the name of the chef who "presented" the dinner we ate. It says: "Dinner presented by Chef Gi Ho Yim."

If Jadeangel is right, that's our guy. Wink

Unfortunately the program does not name the Korean Wave Award recipients. Maybe Jason (or another Korean speaking member) can confirm his name based on the Korean news links.
