With 2 dishes (DTV and TAN), I get not only the cheap DTV package (NFL SUNDAY Ticket is an option), but also 5 Korean channels (more, if you count the program guide and religious stations), for an additional $27.50 per month. Both, together, cost less than $90 per month. _________________ Cum sitis similes paresque vita,

Ok let's talk about Dish Network, shall we?
After talking with the kids, I decided to go for it, that is where the trouble started. I filled out my order online. They were supposed to get back to me within 24 hours - they didn't. The woman who eventually called spoke minimal English. Her accent was so thick I had problems understanding her. After about 20 minutes, I hung up with her and called them back about 30 minutes later. This time I got a guy with an accent but he was understandable. Now comes the fun part. I don't qualify for their special offer because both credit cards I have - Visa & Mastercard - are tied to bank accounts like a debit card. Mind you that EVERYONE else in the World recognizes them as Credit Cards EXCEPT Dish. But wait - I qualify for their extra special program. In this program I get to keep my equipment and they will even give me $5/month back on the equipment. The is no minimum commitment either. I just have to pay $199 up front for the first 2 tvs I want to hook up. For my 3rd TV, I would have to pay another $199 plus a $59 activation fee. Ok so I decide to do 2 tvs now and wait for the 3rd TV till Joey comes home. Things are sailing along at this point. I pay the $199 and schedule the hook up. It is at this point I remember to mention the second dish to them. After all, I am only interested in KBS World. It is the kids that want the rest of the channels. At first the guy wants to charge me for the second dish. I threw a fit saying that KBS World is part of the package I ordered and didn't he just tell me that $199 was all they wanted up front? After threatening to cancel my order and stop payment on the $199 charge, the guy told me they could waive the additional disk cost. The next thing they hit me with was I would have to pay 2 months within 20 days of activating my service.
Let me just say, if it wasn't for KBS World, I would have just given up and kept my cable service. This better be worth it. _________________

Wow what a mess! Since I live in a condo and we have a contractor who is responsible for DISH etc., I didn't have any direct contact with the DISH folks. One time my painter disconnected the connection & I had to place a call to DISH for direction in rehooking. A nice guy quickly told me what to do. BTW, I had no other expenses other than the monthly charge, but I guess a house is different. Tell your kids that Two Days One Night should become their favorite show on KBS World (it is certainly mine) & one of the most popular shows in Korea...those guys are hysterical!
(You may want to consider charging CAT an entertainment fee OR have her cook, clean house and such in exchange for DISH access ) _________________ Debby, Dutchess of Quality Control and PANDAmonium

WOW, that's ashame. That's crazy because they took my credit card and it's a debit card. I didn't have a problem when I got mines set up years ago. |
