Just a few days before our Korean expedition, and bad things are happening. First, getting rear-ended. Then, my Bell South DSL connection has gone out twice in 2 days. Yesterday morning, my TAN receiver gave out (we've had it a few years) and I'll miss a couple of days of my k-dramas while the replacement is being shipped (naturally, I requested express delivery - and will pay the extra charges for that). a7j3 Then, yesterday afternoon, my AC broke down. e4z5 It cost about $340.00 to fix. e4z1
On the positive side, instead of a couple of k-dramas, I watched De Mille's "The Sign of the Cross" on TCM last night. This was the restored, original version, made before the censorship that kicked in during the early 1930s. It featured Claudette Colbert's infamous nude bath scene, as well as the lesbian 'Naked Moon' dance of Joyzelle, plus lots of gory arena scenes, like this Amazon gladiatrix, walking around the arena with a dwarf impaled on her sword. Yummy!

TCM is one of my favorite channels these days. And I'm not anything close to a movie buff!

Unfortunately, anything in black-and-white pretty much puts me to sleep. It has nothing to do with the content of the movie or anything like that. I seriously just need to see color on the screen to keep me interested, as sad as that may sound! My favorites are the '50s/'60s movies (and every now and then I'll see a late '40s one), especially comedies, in color.

Things to look on the bright side for Jim......

You were not run down like the Queen.

The new box was in stock.

It is not the middle of July & the A/C went.

All your hair did not fall out in a freak shampoo/Nair accident.

You can still make a pup tent in your pants if Ma wants too.

No need for thanks....just remove another angry turtle from my sins.

Bah! Bell south arbitrarily changed the date the guy is to come here to check the system. Last night, they scheduled him for today, between 11 and 12. Today, I got a recorded message that he was coming on Saturday, between 8 and 12. Naturally, I called up and raised hell - to their DSL department in COSTA RICA!!!! Angry / Fuming I know what really happened, despite all their excuses: somebody on the other side of the world forgot about the International Dateline, and thought what was Thursday for me, was actually Friday (for them). Angry / Fuming I told them 'maybe I'd be here, maybe I wouldn't...I'm looking into other ISPs.

The new receiver for TAN got here. It still doesn't work. Now I suspect it's because the cherry tree in my neighbor's yard has grown enough to block the path to the satellite (I seem to recall Jason had a similar problem awhile ago). This was inevitable. The dish will have to be repositioned - probably on the roof. Two problems at once - bad receiver, and tree growth.

Everything is going wrong at once. I imagine the trip will be a disaster. I'll bet the internet access at the hotel won't work; they'll probably lose our luggage; I'll probably get into a fight with a gang of drunks in Seoul and wind up in jail for defending myself (as in k-dramas Rolling Eyes ); the plane will probably crash or be seized by terrorists (Oh, I'd just love that! A chance to demonstrate no one can really take over a plane with box cutters!); I'll get appendicitis on the day we leave; Jesus will decide to come again just as we get off the plane...I could go on and on...

Do you always have anxiety attacks before you travel? The stuff that's going wrong now is the stuff we have to deal with day in and day out, but your working with a self impose time limit. You just have a small bunch-up. Blow your nose and pull up your socks. Everything will work out. Shake off anything negative and enjoy your trip. Don't expect PERFECT. Just get out there and experience it all.

One of the evilest of all k-drama characters, THAT FARM GIRL, with her farmish ways and barnyard pheromones, attempted to seduce her own nephew, who was only saved from this incestuous union by the intervention of the ultimately cute, and impossible not to like, Luxury Girl. She then turned her rustic charms upon the innocent and naive Yun Hu, hu found himself unable to resist the temptation of a sexless union with her. Her bucolic aromas even led astray our poor Greg, who turned to NASCAR in a futile attempt to attract her attention...

I'm sorry to break this to you, Jim, but the fact that you didn't like her does not make her evil.

Greg, as I said in the appropriate thread - evil is in the eye of the beholder. Rather than picking on Jim you should feel sorry for him and his skewed perspective of the world.

Hey, when you're messin' with Guk-hwa, you're messin' with me. I'm not just gonna sit here and let that one slide. I stand by my previous statement.

See? Even Cathy agrees with me! But there are a couple even MORE evil and despicable than THAT FARM GIRL! You'll see... Wink

And, NO! I do not have anxiety attacks before big trips. It's just that everything that can go wrong is going wrong. I should be concentrating on wrapping up what's necessary to wrap up, not running around, putting out fires. Our last big trip to Ireland and Wales went relatively smoothly.
