"What I say on screen is often at odds with what I believe", Sung Si Kyung said during an appearance on the October 31st episode of MBC's 'Gold Fish : The Knee God'.
In the broadcast, Sung Si Kyung dismissed his playboy image as a misconception and surprised all by confessing to being lonely.
During that episode, Sung Si Kyung admitted "Yoo Seung Joon's army evasion issue has aroused anger and disappointment but it is not right to pass criticism and judgment. It is only a matter of personal preference whether or not to dislike Yoo Seung Joon. I think certain issues such as denying Yoo Seung Joon entry into the country is not right".
Sung Si Kyung offered his candid opinion "I'm not saying Yoo Seung Joon did well, but I believe the law should be applied fairly to everyone. I don't think that was the case with Yoo Seung Joon."
After the broadcast, viewers on both sides weighed in. Among comments in his defense were 'I agree with his opinion, it is good that he expressed himself boldly' and 'I applaud his unobstructed remarks'. In contrast, there are those with different views 'it is questionable why he would make such statements right before his own military service call'.
In response, Sung Si Kyung's representatives said in an interview with the media "comments regarding Yoo Seung Joon and Sung Si Kyung serving in the army are two different things". They disclosed "Sung Si Kyung is currently pursuing graduate studies as well as heavily promoting his digital single. He is late in enlisting but he will do so early next year. He plans to fulfill his military duty faithfully."
In 2002, the singer in the middle of that day's controversy Yoo Seung Joon 'evaded military service by becoming an American citizen'. Both the general public and the Military Manpower Administration prohibited him from entering the country last year.
Meanwhile, another segment of 'Gold Fish' called 'Radio Star' featured performances and interview with singers Eru and Yangpa. |
