OMG, that was hysterical!! My husband came running in to see what I was laughing so hard about.

I loved the kiss/faint/fatal disease and I really LOVED the novel length overly wordy subtitles that are humanly impossible to read becuase they only flashed for a milisecond. Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud

I've got to remember to check out Mad TV. They did a great skit last night on an overly caffeinnated woman that was dead on me, when I've over done it Rolling Eyes Laugh Out Loud .

What was so perfect about that MADtv parody were the random incongruent (to an American audience) touches that, when you first see K-dramas make you scratch your head:

-opening sequence with a mallard duck vignette (why???)
-Happy Campfire Day (spoof on the myriad of Korean holidays we know nothing about), complete with:
-pinwheels! (spoof on the different items for holidays -- like wearing carnations)

other terrific small touches:

-saying "Huh?" all the time ("More-a" if its an historical drama!)
-large bad hair
-mega slo-mo/multiple flashbacking
-an undefined deadly disease
-an incredibly lame fighting sequence

The only things they missed was an elder smacking him in the head and an eating scene featuring either: ox bone, loach or the head of something soup.

OMG. Thank you for those screencaps. The video in itself was funny. But the fact that they actually thought out those long dialogues is hillarious.

What's even funnier, is that they had all those long, drawn out subtitles in perfect English, and then this final subtitle at the end in broken English:

"THE FINISH UNTIL WE VISIT AGAIN TOMORROW AND YOU CAN ENJOY WHAT HAPPENS IN THE NEXT"

I almost forgot another brilliant touch in this parody: The "dead" person who comes back to life (examples: WINTER SONATA, STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, GREEN ROSE).

I thought Bobby Lee's Korean sounded a little halting, but I figured he was actually saying what was on the subtitles. I guess it was a good thing to have his character say "Huh?!" a lot!

Thanks Ducky, for sharing.

This was too funny. I laughed until I cried! Yup, all it was missing was the random smacking and several of the characters sitting at a table, beverages in front of them, but never actually drinking them.

Those subtitles...omgoodness - just perfect, especially from the president!

jump

This parady was KD to a "t" - and yet when really watching it I very rarely have the urge to laugh - too busy crying or yelling at the characters...lol!
