Angel's Temptation : Great drama...Loved it even though it was far fetched at times. But it's a K-dram what do you expect. Wink I liked the ending...made it different.

Currently Watching:
Smile Honey-cute and lighthearted
Three Brothers-good...for anyone who liked First Wives Club or Sol Pharmacy this one is following along those lines.
Jewel Bibimbap/Assorted Jewels -Off and on...its ok.

Planing to Watch:
IRIS
Boys Over Flowers ( I totally loved the Japanese Version but only got around to the 1st eps of the K-Version)
Beethoven Virus
City Hall (cuz Adrienne liked it so and my favorite KSS actress Kim Sun Ah is in it.)
When It's At Night (again Kim Sun Ah is in it)

I gave up on Jolly Widows a long time ago...I get bored of the "Ajumma dramas" kind of quick.

Youre' Beautiful/He's Beautiful I saw 1 or 2 eps but it reminded me of a mix of Coffee Prince and Boys Over Flowers. Nothing new and it didn't really impress me but I might give it a chance again if I have nothing else to watch.

Hwagjini was excellent. Son of Sol Pharmacy was very good.

Hot Blood I got truly bored with and gave up on that one. The whole car salesman thing to me was boring as hell. I think they are trying to get more Male viewers with this one.

Taming of the Heir for me is boring too I saw a couple of eps and it just did nothing for me...the leads were dull...the lead male was great in My Precious You but in this one he is so dumb.

Is Brilliant Legacy the Same as Brilliant Inheritance...If so I REALLY liked that one!

Marlene DON'T watch When It's At Night!!!!! As much as I love Kim Sun Ah it just wasn't that good. Plus the two leads didn't have any chemistry(at least to me) and the pairing felt forced. Now City Hall on the other hand was GREAT!!! I really loved it.
And yes Brillant Legacy is the same as Brilliant Inheritance.

Greg, what did you think about the Japanese version? I think you didn't like it very much because you didn't post anything about it. I guess you're a strict Kdrama fan.

If the Drama of the Month chooses another drama that you might like, I hope you'll come back and join us in watching once again. It was great to have your input.

Just finished Righteous Ties. I really enjoyed this "gangster" movie. Some very funny stuff interwoven with the violence. Some familiar faces... Here's a review that gives you a better idea... http://www.beyondhollywood.com/righteous-ties-2006-movie-review/

I just watched "Beef Soup" - an SBS 2 episode drama that starts in 1919 and ends in the 80s (?). It's about the symbiotic relationship betweem a man's wife (married as children) and his first mistress (a mole girl). It was very touching. It would have made a great mini-series.

Just watched the Chinese movie Tuya's Marriage... I liked it... though for most it would probably be too slow moving.

You're right...after watching the Korean version, I just could not get into the Japanese one at all. I dunno, the Korean one just overall felt like a higher quality show to me - just my humble opinion, of course.

Like I said in the IRIS thread, I'll catch you guys on the next one (whatever that may be) if it piques my interest.

Queen Seonduk - every superlative you could ever imagine
Tenchijin - The only Japanese historical drama I've seen, entertaining but low-key compared to the Korean ones; the pony tails on the men were outstanding.

Currently Watching:
Jumong - rewatching on DVD set with truly awful (but entertaining) subs

Planning to Watch:
Slave Hunters ?

Spoiler (Click here to reveal) :

And the death scene of Joo Ah Ran was one of the most moving that I have ever scene in a kdrama.

I felt the same about Will it Snow for Christmas. 1st 2 episodes seemed interesting (when the leads were teenagers) but I thought that they totally screwed up the story when they had the brother drown while trying to find the pendant. At that point the series lost all of its momentum. And then the leads grew up, they introduced new love interests and it became totally slow paced and boring.
Animefanzgirl wrote:

I saw 5 minutes of this and decided it's not for me. One scene seemed too silly and another scene was too romantic.
Animefanzgirl wrote:

Yes, different titles for the same show. I thought Brilliant Legacy was OK. Touching story of repentance. Interesting characters.

Finished Watching:
Films:
The Chaser - This entered my list of top favorite films. Based on a true story of a serial killer. Very intense film but with enough variation to keep it interesting. The lead character is excellent as the ex-cop seeking to catch the killer.
A Bittersweet Life - Average. Gangster doesn't do the will of his boss and has to pay. Some OK actions scenes but plot is basically kill them before they kill me.
Old Boy - This left a bad taste with me. Too crazy a story line and subject matter explored was too taboo.

Currently Watching:
Jejoongwon - This is one is really cool. But you have to suspend disbelief. A western doctor, Dr. Allen, sets up the first hospital in Korea and the natives are scared that he's out to eat them. The doctor proves that western medicine is OK by performing brain surgery in front of the emperor and colon/rectal surgery in front of the villagers. His nemesis is an evil Japanese doctor who wants Japan to introduce Western medicine into Korea. But the real protagonist is "Light-Weight-Dog" who is Dr. Allen's assistant. His rival is Mr. Baek, the son of the late Minister of Justice, who forced "Light-Weight-Dog" to do an autopsy on his friend. Lady Soshona, from Jumong, is in this and she is always happy and smiling but it's genuine and not fake. Plus she wears the biggest hanbok ever. And you also have the best sidekick/valet/assistant ever in the character of "Stick", who worries about every thing but has that old world peasant charm. I totally recommend this kdrama for some kzaniness, while observing the rejection of Western culture by 19th century Korea.

Chit-Chat of Beautiful Ladies - KBS World talk show that features foreigners, mostly women, but some men, talking in Korean with a host(s) and a few Korean celebrity guests. Main topic of the show is the exploration of Korean culture through the eyes of foreigners and the understanding of non-Korean cultures. It's a very interesting show with a lot of comedic moments and of course a lot of beautiful ladies. Wink I totally recommend this show to anyone who wants to learn more about the things that are shown on kdramas but aren't fully explained. For instance I learned that Christmas in Korea is like Valentine's day in the US; it's meant for couples and that's why kdramas try to mention it. I also learned that they are 1 million foreigners in S. Korea and 1 out of 8 marriages is to a foreigner! The show is on Mondays at 12:50 AM on Ch 532 on time warner cable in queens.

I suggest watching some water boil after you are done with that one. Although they say a watched pot never boils...

I just finished re-watching one of my favorite dramas, Hello, Aegisshi! ^-^

Now I'm not watching anything, I'm waiting for some DVDs I ordered from YesAsia to show up.... got a Chinese drama, the new Mulan movie and a couple of other things coming.

Finished Watching
Still, Marry Me - Loved it! All time favorite chic drama Wink
Stars Falling from the Sky-Loved it! Yes it was totally over the top unbelievable, but also funny and heartwarming. Loved Parang and Lawyer-they should get best couple of the year Bouncing Grin
Pasta-Dud/bad. Unbelievably annoying. I still hear "Chef!" in my sleep and cringe. I only watched all of this because of the gorgeous eye candy in Team Italy. Other than that-it was not worth the pain and suffering Mad
Birth of a Rich Man-Horribly stupid. I started this drama because I love the two male leads but after ep. 2 , I had enough. I stuck it out for another 2 ep. but the eye candy was not enough to hold out. Angry / Fuming
Man Called God-Ugh. I know a lot of people like IRIS, but I hated it. After seeing Black and White (tdrama), I am ruin from watching badly done adventure dramas. I place this one with IRIS except I think IRIS was a lot better. Hate to admit it. This one is more outrageous and stupid than IRIS. Eek !

Currently Watching
Good Day for the Wind to Blow-I am really enjoying this one although I can't find any subs. The fact that I like it w/o subs says a lot. I only understand 1/4 of what is being said. Yet I keep watching every day, wanting to see what happens next. It had one of the cutest scenes in an elevator that I have ever seen. Blushing
Daring Women-Enjoying the story. I did not think I would but after 4th ep. it really started getting go. The twist and turns, along with the secrets that keep popping up is making it delicious.
You are my Destiny-I just started and I am enjoying it. Will have to watch more to make up my mind Razz
Creating Destiny-I am also close to being done with this one. I have enjoyed this one a lot. Love the lead female. Not my favorite but no complaints. Smile
Definite Neighbors-This is surprisingly good. There is no eye candy and not a lot of people talking about it, but the acting/writing/story is really good. I think this will be a fav of mine. Jaw Drop
PS Man (Taiwanese Drama)-This is sinfully delicious with gorgeous males being bad and gorgeous females making them pay. Cool My Favorite-can't wait until the next episode to air. Definitely an all-time Favorite-have to get the DVD of this one. This is my recommended drama if you can only see one drama-really worth watching if you like women getting revenge on men. Plus the eye candy is lovely-they give you lots of opportunities to enjoy. Good or Bad ?
Down with Love (Taiwanese drama)-I can't figure out why I like this except the sister is awesome and I love Jerry. I could do without Ella but she is toning down with each new ep. so I guess it is not so bad Rolling Eyes
Because of You (Taiwanese drama)-This started pretty decent and I had hopes that it would get better as it went along, but instead, it is starting to really annoy me and I am only liking one character (Fan club girl). I might drop this one after the next ep. if it does not improve. Evil / Twisted
I Love You, Don't Cry-Starting to get annoyingly cliché. If it is a bad cliché in Korean drama then they have it in this. I am about to drop it. I am only watching because of Grandpa and the kid. Otherwise, this was really poorly written. Way too predictable. Angry / Fuming

Planning to Watch
Personal Taste♥
Cinderella's Sister
Chuno
Three Brothers
Oh My Lady
Don't hesitate-started this and then dropped because I couldn't get ep. Want to try watching it again
Harvest Villa
My Girlfriend is Gimiho♥
Bad Guy♥
Prosecutor Princess♥
Love of Pygmalion
Romeo & Juliet-I can't find info on this-though there is an OST just released for it by F(x). I want to find this one.
Summer's Desire (Taiwanese drama)♥-this has been delayed so much that I am dying for it to start. Said to be happening end of March-fingers crossed that it won't be cancelled.

@Caidanbi-The new Mulan movie from China was awesome. Loved it. Bits were a bit cheesy, but over all it was a very entertaining movie. Plus great eye candy.
I just finished watching a Sword with No Name (Korean movie)which I thought reminded me a bit of Mulan. I love the humor and the romance in Sword with No Name. Now one of my favorite films. I would love to hear what you think of Mulan-no one in my family or friends likes foreign movie/subtitles besides me and my son who did not find Mulan all that great as I did-Guess he wanted more battle scenes and blood.LOL

I am new here and to the world of Korean dramas, but I am very much in love with whatever little I have seen.

Finished Watching:
Only You: It was a random pick at a sale, but I totally loved it. Story was cliched, but I loved the characters, the background music, and Han Chae Young. I also love the sound of Korean words. Gosh, am I addicted or what!

Currently Watching:
Goong: It was a friend's recommendation but I was hesitant initially. Never thought I could enjoy a fantastical teenage romance at 30. But guess what? I am loving it.

Planning to Watch:
Coffee Prince: Coz someone lent it to me.
And anything else I see recommended here.

Laugh Out Loud After a year of hiatus from watching K-dramas, I'm now back with a vengeance!

Finished Watching:

"Stars falling From the Sky" - I really, really loved this one! So funny! It was a bit silly, and rushed at the end, but I never grew bored with it, and I loved the 2 leads. Plus, the kids were adorable.

Currently Watching:

"Assorted Gems" - I'm watching this one with the DOMmies, and so far its one not to be missed.

"Autumn's Concerto" - A Taiwanese drama, with a cute male lead. Laugh Out Loud Enough said!

"That Fool/ Accidental Couple" - It's hilarious!

"White Lies" - A powerhouse of a drama. It starts off strong, but with 150 episodes, we'll see if I can make it through.

Planing to Watch:

"Oh! My Lady" - This one has literally only just started airing, so it'll be awhile before I can watch it. But Chae Rim as an ajumma and possibly a 'cougar'?! All the makings of a good drama!

"You're Beautiful" - Everyone has given this good reviews, so I'll try it.

"Shining Inheritance" - Also has good reviews.

These I already started, but plan to finish after the other ones.:

"City Hall" - Very funny, with Kim Sun Ah at her best.

"IRIS" - lots of action.

I've watched way too many dramas this past winter but that is what happens when ya get snowed in!

Finished Watching:
IRIS (still grumpy over the ending)
Stars Falling From The Sky (best thing about it were the kid actors)
Pasta (The words Yes, Chef are still ringing in my ears. Lots of eye candy in the secondary actors!)

Watching Now:
City Lovers aka The Woman Who Still Wants To Get Married
Great clothing but not so impressed by the primary love relationship between a 34 year old character and Kim Bum playing a 24 year old rock star

Obstetrics & Gynecology Doctors
Love Love Love this medical drama. It's great to see Farmgirl's Boyfriend back from the army and acting again! Suh Ji Suk does a great job portrying a doctor playboy fertility expert. This is a very realistic and interesting medical drama. The medical cases are riveting and heart-tugging!

Assorted Gems Drama of the Month Club Selection and enjoying every episode!

Plan to Watch:

Down With Love (Taiwanese) I need me some Jerry Yan.

Oh My Lady Just going to watch a bit and see if that flower boy from Super Junior can act.

Personal Taste Will watch to see if Lee Min Ho (Boys Over Flowers) can play a straight guy pretending to be gay.

Gave Up On:
Chuno (tired of watching the guy chasing the girl all over Korea and constantly getting within 10 feet of her only to get separated again! Fourteen episodes of lost love angst is TOO MUCH! There's also too many characters doing too many things for me to keep the story lines straight.)
