Here we go again. Building the character, the guy with Lou Gehrig's disease. Same thing he did for White Tower, only this time he's putting weight on then taking it off.

I have a feeling Dramabeans is going to give everybody a ringside seat as My Love by My Side goes along. Yay!

I wanted to ask who LCH was but I didn't want to betray my newbieness as a K-drama fan. Now that I know I can go look at him all over the Internet and see what good taste you have in actors.

Found LCH. Seen him too. He was Prince Sado in Yi San. All I remember is he seemed tall and good-looking in a typical KHD beard. Have you seen that? He isn't in it much. Prince Sado is one of my favorite tragic characters in Korean history, but Yi San went the fairytale route about him. Made him a good guy instead of a madman. Oh well. . .

Wow, he looks so so young here! He really did lose weight!

When I go to Dramabeans these days I expect to see wall-to-wall Boys over Flowers, and here's this depressed-looking guy in a wheelchair.

piano_lady from soompi asked me to post this.

She got to visit with KMM a couple of times for over an hour while he was in Vienna, Austria (she lives there) last year and they struck up a friendship. She and a couple of other ladies have founded an international fan club for him, which is just starting up.

A camera crew has been covering him preparing and filming the new movie
My Love by My Side.

No word on whether it will eventually be made available to English-speaking
audiences.

Kim Myung-min that was aired in Korea Sunday nite. It examines his past career,
including IYSS, White Tower, & Beethoven Virus, and follows him in the preparation
of his role in the movie My Love by My Side. Great text, lots of photos, & a link
where the entire show can be downloaded, but without Eng. subs. With or without,
it's fascinating. The one big omission is Bad Family, the role where he first showed
his ability to physically immerse himself in a character.

[Sun. nite, Apr. 12] MBC brought the touching story of actor Kim Myung-min with the
documentary "Celebrity Biography---Kim Myung-min Was Not There.'' Kim is a top star
now, appearing in popular dramas like "Beethoven Virus,'' which won him the top prize
at the 2008 Korea Drama Festival, and movies "Open City'' (2007) and "Return''
(2007). But through the program, viewers were able to realize that he did not taste
success immediately.

The documentary helped show Kim in a more friendly light, as he's portrayed rather
harsh characters, including a coldhearted doctor, a mean yet emotional conductor and
a police officer.

"The objective was to present the journey of Kim as an actor: his passion, his failures
and finally his success and hope,'' one of the staff members of the program said through
a statement.

Indeed, the documentary touched viewers, especially when Kim starting crying when
reminiscing about his difficult times as an aspiring actor.


 


"I was never lazy, not one second. I prefer the word actor over star,'' Kim said during
the program.

It seemed viewers appreciated the program as well, as viewer ratings hit 10 percent,
a high number considering the time slot, and demanded reruns on MBC's Web site.

Now I can't wait until this documentary hits the internet!

nolmac5, the KMM video team of MMI is currently working on this documentary. to date, translation is all done and timing is 50% done. hopefully, we could release it by end of the week! yay!
