I am VERY disappointed in Mind TV. First they have technical difficulties during episode 16 and they don't re-air it. Then they air episode 18 twice. Rolling Eyes

Before anyone says that they lost their funding, I would like to remind people that I am currently working without pay. I am still doing a professional job as are the other 69.000 State employees who are working w/o pay.

they don't deserve public funding is what I have to say. And I hope they lose every penny of it.

but don't worry, there are plenty of Mindless cheerleaders here that will be their apologists.

You are working without pay? I do hope everything works out for you sooner than later.

As far as pay, if we (or at least the average working stiff) had the same work ethic
as MIND appears to have we would be NOT working for no pay - since we'd lose our jobs
for being such boneheads.

other than this, life is wonderful

I thought you stopped watching MindTV Bob.

Okay I'm not going to defend them or anything but I have never seen Episode 18.
Which is the point of rerunning it I assume.

If you watch ECC on Ch 35.1:
You missed #16 and have seen #17 & 18 last weekend.

If you watch ECC on Ch 35.2 You Have seen #16 and also saw #17 the following night.
By rerunning 18# tonight Everyone has seen up to 18 and the two broadcasts are in sync again.

So while you're mad you have to watch 18 again ch 35.2 viewers would be mad if it was skipped.

And what about those of us who watch on cable and missed episode 16?

now that's about the most thoughtless or ignorant comment I've read on this board.

let me get this straight. they skip episode 16
but replay episode 18 and this is just fine?

I don't have 35.2 or even know how to access it.
I don't watch 35.2 and I'm not sure I'm the only one here

but using your logic - and do carefully re-read them;
the very next episode to be shown on this mysterious 35.2 is #18
o.k. I'm fine with that. so they should show episode 18 on 35.2

the next episode to be shown on MIND is #19. They repeated #18 and we still
haven't been shown #16 on MIND.

To clear up or answer your smart ass comment about me not watching this piece of ****
TV station any more. I downloaded ep#16 and watched it. It looks marvelous.

I am downloading eps 19 - 29 right now but unfortunately for me only some of them have
finished. #19 & 20 are not among the completed downloads. And as soon as I get one weekend
ahead of MIND, I will never tune in again.
So, for this weekend at least I'm a poor slob having to "tune in"

Life is still overly wonderful

Very frustrating. It makes the story seem to move even more slowly. It feels like its never going to get anywhere...

Then you'd hate the version of that post before I censored all the swear words out of it.

Look, you know some of us are having a hard time with MIND tv, so don't arrogantly
lord over us with your 35.1's & 35.2's - rubbing it in our faces.

I took your comments as a cold, wet towel snap at us people who don't get all
these fancy decimal point channels.

Hey, it's too nice out to be getting testy!

Bob, you can watch whatever episode you want (un-edited for time constraints) for free on mysoju on your computer.

I find that Mind Tv has employees with no mind. I thought that they would have broadcast missing episode 16, and no double 18. You can read synopsis by Chicago korean Drama Fan club for info.

I have DirecTV, so the only MIND channel I get is one. #35. I'm guessing those of us that have cable only get the one channel 35.

I can, can I? Well you're wrong since I never watch television on my PC.

Anyway, I'm just hoping the downloads complete soon so I can really say
bye-bye to the miserable failure of a TV station.

In the past, we all would joke and poke fun at WYBE for their adorable little mistakes.
Back when they were sweet and innocent. Before the MINDless takeover.

Now they've become the broadcast version of vanity publishing with
complete lack of integrity; and those cute little flaws that we found so
attractive then are now just old, wrinkled and annoying.
Let's say testy.

oh, and please keep fueling the fire since I have less polite opinions of MINDless
that I want gently teased out of me.

Let's not fight about this OK?

Bob, like a lot of people, is frustrated with Mind TV and missed episode 16.
Min Joo, like a lot of other people, has access to the digital channels and saw episode 16.

Let's all try to be understanding of each other. After all it isn't anyone here who screwed up the airing of Empress Chun Chu.

As far as the online stuff goes, that is great for some people but not for others. The video quality of mysoju sucks especially during action scenes.

I have stopped trying to record this for the VC and I am getting the series for the VC from another source. This was the last thing I was watching on Mind TV. (I long ago started getting The Road Home from another source).

My biggest disappointment with Mind TV is that I thought they were actually listening to us and really cared what we thought. I guess it is my fault I put my faith in them. The more and more I deal with Korean companies the more and more I become disappointed with American companies.

I'm not here to join your discussion because down here I get no Korean programs whatsoever on TV. The many Korean dramas I've watched have been purchased through eBay or from other websites, borrowed from the VC, or downloaded from the internet. So, I'm only here to ask a question, just out of curiosity:

Bob, where do you watch the episodes that you download? Since they are in .AVI format, you can't play them on a standard DVD player, although if you have a game console such as a PlayStation or X-Box, they will play fine on that. Since I don't have a game console, I had to buy a special Philips DVD player that will play .AVI files. But otherwise, most people just watch them on their computer monitor.

Maria you can convert the avi files and make a DVD out of them that is playable anywhere. I think we have a tutorial for that. I use Nero but I know there are free programs out there that will do that.

Sheesh..... Jaw Drop

I agree with Maria......I don't have K dramas on any channel up here. My friends provide me with dvds of it or I hear about them from this forum or see them on websites. I guess when you aren't blessed with a channel that supplies it easily (no matter what episode it misses) you have a different mindset towards what poses a problem and what doesn't.

Calm down Bob. Enjoy the nice summer weather!
Cool

I apologizing if my comments were taken the wrong way.
I don't have cable so I'm not aware of which channels are available or not so I didn't not know if you could see the other Mindtv channels or not.
As I've stated on several occasions I hate digital TV on all channels and would gladly go back to analog.
I did not mean to make things worst and I'm sorry if I upset anyone.

I know Theresa, but it takes so long, and they don't always come out well! I tried to convert a couple, and both of them have parts of episodes missing on the DVD (they didn't convert well). Besides, I've downloaded quite a few dramas, and it would take me months to convert them all, so I just put them on DVD's as data files, or on a flash drive, and watch them directly on my TV via the Philips DVP5990 player (it has a USB connection for a flash drive). Sometimes I also watch them on my computer, but I have a really bright ViewSonic 22" HD widescreen monitor, so the dramas look fine there.

There are several inexpensive brands of DVD players that will play.AVI (DviX) files, and the game consoles will also play them. My Philips DVP5990 player cost around $55.00 at Best Buy (the price includes an extended warranty), so it's quite affordable.

I was just curious how others watch them after downloading.

apologies to Minjoo if I jumped down your throat - someone recently pointed out
that my frustration is with MIND and not other fans. So humble apologies to you and
anyone here traumatized by me.

As a lifelong fan of PBS it is with a sad heart that I abandon any love for any of the stations.
They survived (if this is what you call survive) decades of right wing hatred only to emerge
weaker.

AVI files: In the past I would author them to a playable DVD - streaming the subs into the files
like Theresa mentions above. I rarely do that these days.
I just make a data disk and play back on Philips player.

the data disk takes a few minutes to create and the Philips player handles them just fine.

although regarding the DVD authorship - I've recently been using TMPGenc DVD Author 3
(been using version 1.6 for about 6 years) but now the newest version you can drop AVI files
and their srt file in with each and it creates a DVD image in one simple and easy step.
One step - that's it - gone are the days of many steps if you use this one. Plus they become
removable subtitles - so hardcoding days are over with this.

I live in Falls Township Bucks County and have Comcast... Mind is on 76.12... I have to punch in 76... then click up to 76.12... the PBS station with East Enders is on 76.11.

That's a great little DVD player isn't it? I'm thinking of getting another one for one of our other TV's. The only problem is that it won't play the high resolution XviDs (XviDs over 720 pixels wide). Luckily, most of the downloadable Kdrama files aren't that big, so they will play fine, and look beautiful on our large screen TV. The few files I've come across that are larger are the ones that I watch on my computer.

I'll keep in mind the program you use for conversion (TMPGenc DVD Author 3) in case I want to convert one of the dramas into standard DVD format. But with the Philips player, it's so easy to watch the .AVI files with subtitles, that there really is no need to take that further step.

I have a 2 Philips standalone players and they are just fine. Very inexpensive and they
play PAL disks, plus simple to make region free.
I used to go through all that mess of authoring disks so they would be playable on any player.

Do you know why? cause I'm just a sharing kind of person. I figured it's easier to lend out
DVD disks to folks who want to watch stuff than have great material and it's not accessible
to others. But I got tired of that since everyone has got into the game of making disks and
I find less need to share very much. so it's back to data disks

Hey Maria,
I appreciate the info.

I was actually aware of that option. But there's something to be said for being able to sit down on the couch at the TV at a designated time each week and have special mommy/daughter time. Doing it at the computer on a tiny screen in uncomfortable seats just isn't the same.

When I'm at work and I have to miss Chun chu, I just watch it on mysoju.com, which is very straightforward. The only snafu with that is that sometimes the videos get reported and pulled and you have to wait a week or more for them to be fixed. I missed a couple episodes back in the beginning for this reason. Still, it's nice to know that there are several options given all the obstacles to just watching one dern tv show! Why is it so complicated?!? I miss the days of rabbit ears. You just turned on the tv, wiggled the antenna til you got optimal reception and that was it. All this crap with cable and digital channels with dashes in them and mixed up programming and whatnot is just plain aggravating. Yarg!!!

Why do you think they call it 'Mind TV'? Slowly but surely the subliminal messages are taking control...

I live just over the river from Phila. in NJ. I am totally confused about the stations and the decimals.

I have Comcast digital (thank you, uncle sam) and discovered after the changeover that WYBE (Ch. 35) with the 5 minute 'learning' programs is Channel 20.

Much to my amazement I recently discovered that WYBE (or Mn something) is also 264 and includes European news, Russian news, several 'non-learning' but newsy discussion programs. AND they do not always show what the tv listing says that they will.

Then - another surpsie - Channel 265 is ALSO somehow WYBE or MiND tv. But this is where the kdramas and foreign films and tv programs are.

I still have no clue about a schedule but i have fallen in love with mysoju now.

Well everything from 72 to 78 dropped out of sight for me... and I'm tired of the hunt. Someone made a lot of money from this switch... can we hunt them down instead?
