This is what's replacing VDIL vs UDIL as SBS's morning drama. First episode was yesterday.

Not much yet. The story apparently centers on the hatred between 2 middle aged women. One took away the other's boyfriend (or husband) long ago. We see the bloody leg of miscarriage in a fuzzy flashback. Years later, the son of the one (Witch-Whore ) who married a rich guy falls in love with the daughter of the one who is married to a security guard (who may be the taken man in question). The families haven't met yet, but it seems the daughterl is going to get knocked up by the son, so they'll have to get married. There's also a DIL who is obsessed with getting pregnant and a talkative aunt who may be the long-lost love of the brother of the rich woman.

Whore-Witch and her enemy meet in a bathroom. Little do the realize that Whore Witch's daughter, Dan Bi, and the Enemy's son have just spent the night together (and, undoubtedly, Dan Bi is pregnant). Meanwhile, Whore Witch's husband is pining away over and old photo he has of the Enemy, his true love.
Aunt is working away as housekeeper to a rich young slut and listening at her door as she's getting done (but not by me).

Ji Hwan and Dan Bi are the star-crossed lovers in this one. Dan Bi's (Hee Suk) mother is Witch Whore and Sun Hee is Ji Hwan's offended mother.

Ji Hwan's Dad is a very nice guy. I thought he wouldn't make it up those long steps to his house...

Yu Hee seems to have been once involved with Sun Pil.

But the doctor is Ji Hwan. His father is the head of some corporation.

Dab Bi looks like she's straight out of anime, with those huge eyes and triangular face.

The question isn't what's going to happen to Dan Bi. That's obvious: she'll suffer extreme persecution at the hands of her MIL. The real question is will there be a long, drawn out battle before she gets married, with her MIL trying to prevent the marriage, or, when they find out she's pregnant, will the marriage take place and her persecution proceed from that point.

I'd love to see a k-drama in which the poor girl isn't tortured for so long...

For a moment I thought there might be an epiphany in k-dramas: Dan Bi's Mom actually told her the truth about her Dad being previously married to Ji Hwan's Mom. But it was just her imagination, running away with her. Just her imagination, running... Now we have to go through the requisite 80 odd episodes of lies, pretense, and deceit before everyone finds out the truth.
Dan Bi is obviously pregnant, but I thought morning sickness didn't develop for several weeks after conception...
Isn't Song Ok Suk (Dan Bi's Witch-Whore Mom) the actress who played BYJ's mother is Winter Snotta?

She's not pregnant! Now that's a twist. It would have been much more interesting if she were. I was hoping this show would get away from the "Mom throws a tantrum for some unspoken reason and Son obeys" theme, but I guess not.

I’m watching this one with somewhat limited enthusiasm, since it's looking like a pretty ordinary kind of daily drama. My hopes for the show leapt when husband-stealer mom told her daughter the truth early on . . . until it was revealed in the next episode that it was just another notorious SBS “imaginary sequence.”

All of which suggests that this will be another show where it will take 80 episodes before everything comes out in the open - pretty standard fare for a KBS drama, but in recent years SBS has mostly avoided this nonsense. Interesting, though, that Dan-bi was NOT pregnant. That would have been the easy way out, but now I wonder how the writer is going to pursue this?

BTW, I agree that Dan-bi really DOES look like a real-life anime character. She’s just as cute as a button! It’s almost worth watching the show just for her.

Surely, no one is buying into the fortune teller story. As he said, "It's 2009." So why doesn't someone ask the obvious 'why'? But, I forget...they're only 30 years old and still have to do what their mommies say.

Now the battle is joined! I only wish Ji Hwan would just go against his mother and marry Dan Bi. Now we have to suffer through 80, or more, episodes, of the back and forth of their trying to persuade the mothers to let them get married, and then, ji Hwan's father finding out his wife was married before...

I think this show is becoming Extreme Melodrama way too fast. And they're getting to the slapping way too early.

Slap the son, slap the daughter. Throw salt on the aunt. Next week, water in the face and hair-pulling. I just LOVE the propagation of violence in these SBS morning dramas!

At the end of the scene in which Yu Hee and Yu Il were drinking, you could see the top of the head of one of the filming crew on the set.

Dan Bi is awesomely cute, but the spot on her nose is a mistake. She shouldn't have had it put on. It detracts from her anime-like look.

She's WAY cute, but (indeed) what's the deal with all the spot-nosed Korean actresses we've been getting? Is that some kind of a fashion statement, or were they all actually born that way?

Sorry to say, this show hasn't done much for me so far. I've demoted this show to "watch if you have nothing better to do" status. Maybe things will start picking up, and I'll find myself getting back into it.

The spot seems to be a style adopted from the original "Spot", who was the girl on YH and Dr. Gang (what was her name?). It's a tatoo.

Yes, I think you’re talking about actress Han Ga-in, who was in shows like YH and “Witch Ma” (I only barely remember “Dr. Gang,” but yes, I do think she was in that one also). I guess she must have been the original “Spot.”

So, is the idea’s a little like the mole on Marilyn Monroe’s face, which somehow became a kind of beauty statement back in the late 1950’s, even though I always thought it was ugly? I even noticed yesterday that Yu-ran (in “Glass Castle”) also has a spot on her nose. I never noticed it before. But, it’s not that dark or obvious, so maybe it’s been there all along, and I’m just getting sensitive.

Maybe we’ll reach the point where spot noses become a little like breast augmentation, where 2% of the women are born with a natural spot, and the other 98% have to have the spot added to keep up with the current fashion trends. Now, don't get me wrong: I'm all for Big Boobs, but I think the idea of women all getting spots tatooed on their noses is just a little too much.

I never did see “Winter Sonata,” but Dan-bi’s mom was wonderful in “Beethoven Virus,” which was probably my favorite contemporary K-drama of the last 12 months. It was a real standout performance, nothing at all like all the mundane roles she's otherwise played.

Yep! I was right! What need have they of a pregnancy test when they've got me? Even when the pregnancy test was wrong, I WAS RIGHT!!!

So, Ji Hwan's first great love has come back? Now his Mom will try to get them back together, just to get Dan Bi out of the picture. Just for once, I'd like to see one of these programs that wasn't so predictable.

The old, "I had cancer and could hurt you by telling you, even though we were so very much in love, so I disappeared," excuse! I guess Ji Hwan has to marry her now...

Will DAn Bi really get an abortion? I think not. She'll probably chicken out at the last second, so Ji Hwan's slapping of her will be in vain. Dan Bi is stubborn beyond belief, and I wonder if Ji Hwan wouldn't be better off without her - or the other girl.

Hah! Once more I was right (or is it that all k-dramas have become too predictable?)! Dan Bi couldn't go through with it, but took the slap anyway. How many more tines will she be slapped before the final episode?

Mi Jin isn't just a CG - she's a PCG (Psycho Chipmunk Girl). When Ji Hwan saw the inside of her apartment, he should run out of there at warp speed. She's definitely going to come after someone, of try suicide, or something...
Her friend (whom, I might point out, WORKS AT A BAR!!! ) is just plain evil.

Ji Hwan's mother checks his cell phone, Mi Jin opens his envelope, Dan Bi's Mom goes through her stuff...I say we all go over to Lucas' place while he's away and rifle through his drawers.

The latest theme in k-dramas: Mothers trying to force their daughters to get an abortion. "You're only 30 years old. You're not smart enough to make your own decisions about your life!"

I'm glad Dan Bi isn't going through with it. Mi Jin is such a conniving woman, but Dan Bi is either blind or utterly stupid. Why did see get so upset when she saw Mi Jin (who looked right at her) fake a faint and Ji Hwan (who's a doctor, fer cryin out loud!) help her stand up? Isn't that what he's supposed to do? I guess in Koreandramland men are never supposed to help a damsel in distress if they're anywhere near their wife or girlfriend.

Su Ah is such a shallow, brainless twit. She's pissed just because Dan Bi got knocked up before her. Now she's Dan Bi's mortal enemy, instead of her best friend...

I'm not sure I know why Dad hit Ji Hwan, but that evens the score:

Poor Ji Hwan, having to chose between the two. My solution: marry Dan Bi and make Mi Jin his mistress. As an alternative, he can marry Mi Jin and make Dan Bi his mistress. At least that's what I'd do...

Yeah, they’re definitely BOTH cutie-pies. But, I have to agree that Mi-jin’s bedroom (plastered with those huge, gigantic photos of her ex-boyfriend) proves beyond any doubt that she's psycho. Were I to encounter such a situation, I’d RUN FOR THE HILLS . . . and maybe even run for another country!

I’m also a little confused at the fury shown by Dan-bi’s long-time friend. I could figure her being angry and frustrated about how things turned out, but turning against Dan-bi so viciously seems a little tough to swallow.

I noticed that when Dan-bi was about to get the abortion, the surgical room was plastered with photos of happy, smiling babies. Now seriously, how many women could go through with an abortion under those circumstances? With Korea’s official policy of trying to boost the birth rate, I wonder if they actually do that to dissuade women from having it done?

There was a comment about Dan Bi's unusual name, so I'm try to figure out what it means. Possibly, 'A Bundle of Rain', or 'Only Rain', or 'Welcome Rain' (if the two syllables are read together as one word). I wonder...

This show seems to be moving along at a pretty good pace now. I thought it would take at least 30 more episodes for Ji Hwan to find out Dan Bi didn't get the abortion. I wonder how long before his father finds out his wife was married to Dan Bi's father?

Su Ah is behaving like a real bitch because she hasn't gotten pregnant yet. How long has it been? Four years? Hah! We waited 19! Stupid twit!

Mi Jin keeps a bottle of whiskey in her refrigerator??? That's wrong...That's just wrong.

I'd say something about Mi Jin's enormous ears, but I still blame myself for driving Choi Jin Sil to take her own line because of my making fun of her ears...

Apparently, Mi Jin's great crime isn't just being an ORPHAN GIRL. She must have some other dark secret. Maybe she once worked with her friend, selling alcohol. Maybe even to Americans!!!!

But I have an idea. If Mi Jin's so despicable, maybe a trade can be arranged. Mi Jin can go live with the Despicable Family, and Dan Bi can sever ties with her despicable parents, freeing her up to marry Ji Hwan...

I can't blame the little girl's mother for thinking Su Ah was trying to kidnap her. After all Su Ah had her in her car with a stuffed animal she had given her. What mother wouldn't flip out over that? But why hasn't Su Ah thought about adoption? After all, Angelic MIL works at an orphanage, and we all know the surest way for a woman to get pregnant is to adopt a kid first.
