Highly acclaimed KBS documentary “Asian Corridor in Heaven” has added another award to its long list of honors. Episode two “Road to Pilgrimage” of “Asian Corridor in Heaven” received the Special Award at the Japan Prize 2008 International Contest for Educational Media. Sponsored by the leading Japanese broadcasting station NHK, the ceremony was held at NHK Broadcasting Center in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, October 28.
“Asian Corridor in Heaven - Road to Pilgrimage” follows the strenuous journey of five men, who traveled 2,000 kilometers to the Tibetan capital of Lhasa. During the entire span of the journey, the five men performed a deep bow after every five steps.
This exceptional documentary has posted an average rating of 11.4% during its broadcasting in the fall of 2007. High marks from both the critics and the general public propelled the documentary to win prizes at the 44th Baeksang Art Awards and the 2008 Korea Communications Commission’s Grand Prize. It was also nominated for the 36th International Emmy Awards’ documentary category and won an award at the 2008 AIBD World TV Award.
