Looks like another use for Korea's favorite!

Kimchee and Hot Dogs from CHOW Digest
CHOW DIGEST

wayne keyser says kimchee is great instead of sauerkraut on hot dogs. AndyP agrees that it's a "brilliant combo," and JungMann points out that Chef David Chang has popularized the kimchee hot dog at an exclusive bar in downtown Manhattan. "They've become a highlight, even more so than the $18 drinks," he says.

bitsubeats says that this combination is also the basis for a dish known as budaechigae, or "army base stew." It consists of chopped-up hot dogs, Spam, potatoes, and "any other meat products that are lying around" thrown into water with some sour kimchee. You can also add ramen noodles, she says.

hannaone says that budaechigae is his sons' favorite dish. "That crazy mix of processed meat, kimchi, veggies, and mandu is pretty good stuff," he says.

It's actually not a bad dish. Just messy and filled with salt and cholesterol. Bouncing Grin

One of my dad's more interesting receipes when he was younger and he wanted something fast for us kids was spagetti with kimchee.

I actually would like to try it. What could be bad if you love kimchee & love hot dogs? My co-worker said how about franks & beans with a side of kimchee. I would like that as well!

I don't like sauerkraut, I tried it once when I was five and threw up. I guess if kimchi is not different I won't like it.

They don't have the same taste, but the process for making them isn't dissimilar. There's a great line in the Cary Grant movie, "People Will Talk" about how real sauerkraut should be made in barrels. Laugh Out Loud Great movie!

I was in H Mart the other...Asian market primarily Korean with some American products. This big old good old boy came charging down the aisle, "Anyone know where they hide the sauerkraut?" I said, "You'll probably need to get kimchee." "Naw," he said, "Wife'd kill me." It occurred to me that he had no clue where he was! Laugh Out Loud
