I see! Thanks Papa James, but again........ what does Karma do??? We use it to go to the supermarket to exchange real brownie??

It's just a fun "rating" thing.

If Jim says "no-one is as ugly as Jamie" I may say "You git! Karma off for that one" and reduce his karma by one!

Or, for other reasons, you may increase someones karma.

Karma modifications are anonymous, and only meant to be a bit of fun (they don't do anything other than get displayed as somones karma score)

If you don't want to join in, you can disable the karma for yourself.

The number in brackets are your karma score yesterday, and the score the day before, so you can easier see how someones karma is progressing over time!

Again, you get nothing for having a good or a bad karma, other than people being able to see you have a good or a bad karma! It's just a bit of fun!

'Brownie points' means points for brown-nosing. If you haven't heard that term before, I'll PM you with an explanation.

And why do some profiles on the left have + or - but others say DISABLE? And why when I clicked on them did it get snotty with me, saying "stop pressing the button so often Kathy"

Actually, we already have.

You're only allowed to give or take a certain amount of karma in a certain amount of time. If you don't want to do karma, just click on 'disable'.

But be wary of instant karma. It'll get you.

I added the snotty message to annoy Liz@themolehill who was abusing karma by continually removing karma from me!!

I have not had a problem giving out Karma. Maybe you are just being too free with your Karma.

Ok, I'm still dense on this -- cause my karma still reads DISABLED! Now, I may drive a van with handicapped plates but I don't like thinking my KARMA IS DISABLED!!!

Click on enable to re-enable it!

To stop abuse, people can only give one karma change an hour (though I'm thinking of changing it so you get a "pool" of karma points per day to do with as you see fit... Ideas anyone ?)

Admins (like the queen) don't get this restriction!

Oh, by the way, I'm shortly going to add a bit of code so you can see which post of someones was karma'd up / down.

Karma will still be anonymous though!

Under everyones avatar alongside their post, you see the + - buttons to add / subtract karma from somone. You can't dekarma yourself, but you can opt out of the karma game - to that end, under your own avatar, is the word "disable" - click that and from then on, everyone sees your karma score as "*disabled*" - you can re-enable karma, by clicking "enable" under your avatar!

I got to Ireland 2 years ago -- this pic reminds me of a place near where we stayed in Dunsmore East. I saw your face on the sheep -- love that little touch. Over here in America, the joke is Wyoming and their sheep -- so few women, the men have sheep for girlfriends!
